Beekeeping for the Bee-ginner - Spring 2022

This 2 Sunday course (Feb 13 and 27, 2022) with hands-on activities will cover all aspects of entry level beekeeping for the Hobbyist in NJ.  No prior knowledge of honey bees or beekeeping is required. 

Start 8:00 am. End approx 5:30 pm.
Class size is limited to 20 students.
NJBA scholarship is available.
Attendees must be at least 14 years of age.

  • Honey Bee Evolution
  • Bee Regulations
  • Bee Biology
  • Equipment and Assembly
  • Location and Products
  • Feeding
  • Hands-On in the Beeyard

Day 2:
  • Getting your bees
  • Packages and Nucs
  • Diseases and Pests
  • Pest Management
  • Bee Colony Management
  • Harvesting and Extracting
  • Hands-On in the Beeyard
Book and hand outs will be provided.
Beeyard is located a short drive from the class. 

No food, drink nor meals will be supplied.  Food establishments are within a four minute drive.  Refrigerator will be available for "brown baggers".

$25 discount for active 4-H and FFA members; as well as Veteran's, verification required.  Enter the corresponding code: 4-H, FFA or Vet when registering.

All COVID-19 protocols will be in effect, including wearing a mask and social distancing while in the building.  In case of NJ Governor's Executive orders, class may be re-scheduled and/or re-located.
